Federal Information Minister Reiterates Government Support for Media Freedom, Addresses Journalists’ Concerns

During a meeting with the Karachi Press Club (KPC) delegation on April 24 in Governor House Sindh, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar emphasized the government’s unwavering support for freedom of the press in Pakistan. He acknowledged the media’s crucial role as the fourth pillar of democracy.

Tarar highlighted the government’s proactive efforts to clear outstanding dues owed to media houses, providing essential financial relief to journalists and media workers. The meeting focused on addressing the welfare concerns of journalists in both print and electronic media.

KPC President Saeed Sarbazi expressed appreciation for the minister’s visit and underscored the KPC’s pivotal role in promoting democracy. The minister pledged to visit the KPC in the near future to directly address the concerns of its members.

The minister also presented a cheque of Rs 1 million to Sarbazi.
