Pakistan Press Foundation

On April 23, mobile phone services were partially suspended in Karachi, Sindh due to enhanced security measures in place for the visit of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed the service outages in specific areas of the city.

The PTA released a statement citing directives from the Ministry of Interior, outlining the suspension of cellular services on select routes within Karachi. The suspension commenced at 3 pm on April 23, slated to conclude at 8 am on April 24.

“This decision is a necessary security precaution to ensure the safety of the visiting dignitary,” the PTA stated.

Due to the security protocols, several major Karachi roads were also closed to regular traffic. The city’s traffic police released an alternate traffic plan to guide commuters during the disruption.
