Mehreen Jabbar set to release a web series
Film and TV director Mehreen Jabbar has some nuanced projects to her name including television serials such as Ab Tum Ja Saktey Ho, Doraha and films like Ramchand Pakistani and Dobara Phir Se.
The director is now gearing up to venture into the digital space. Mehreen Jabbar’s upcoming project is a web series, which has been written by novelist and playwright Umera Ahmad. Recent reports suggest that the web series, which is yet to be titled, is currently in its pre-production stage.
According to Gulf News, Mehreen Jabbar, who is known for her neo-realistic style of storytelling and trend-setting shows, is quite excited to work with Umera Ahmad again. “Web is where it’s at,” Jabbar told Gulf News. “Everyone will eventually get there since TV has become mostly unbearable.”
Though the filmmaker did not reveal too many details about the upcoming web series, she went on to say that the show is produced by Group M. “Can’t say right now if it’s for Netflix or Amazon, or [anything on] the cast as we are still in pre-production,” she added. “But I am very excited to work with Umera Ahmad again. This will be my fourth work with her after Doraha, Daam and Malal. I love the script, and I am looking forward to this.”
Apart from this, Mehreen Jabbar’s next drama serial titled Dil Kiya Karey, which stars Feroze Khan and Yumna Zaidi in key roles, is scheduled to go on air next year.
