KARACHI: The Sindh Cultural Festival kicked off in Karachi on Sunday with great zeal and enthusiasm, and Pakistan-People’s Party Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the occasion saying the Basant festival would be celebrated in Sindh this season.

Inaugurating the festival at the Mohatta Palace, Bilawal said he was a proud son of Sindh – the gateway of Islam – and that its security was the responsibility of every citizen.

While hosting the event, the PPP patron-in-chief said terrorism caused serious injuries to Pakistan, where some people were trying to impose their ideologies through the barrel of the gun.

He said the dictators ruled he country for a long time, which had destroyed its culture and history. Hence, cultural activities had to be revived and Basant was the first initiative in line, he said.

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari accompanied Bilawal during the inauguration, and national stars including Wasim Akram were also present. Fireworks added to the beauty of the event.
