Saleem Shahzad murder case: Judicial commission calls senior journalists

ISLAMABAD: A judicial commission investigating the murder of journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad here on Wednesday called senior journalists to share information about the murder incident with the commission members.

The commission also decided to summon complaint of the case FIR in next proceedings to be held on July 9 in Islamabad.

The interior ministry and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had also been directed to furnish complete record of email accounts and cellular phones used by the deceased journalist. The meeting of the commission was held at Supreme Court Lahore registry under the chair of Justice Mian Saqib Nisar. After the meeting both secretary to commission Tamour Azmat Usman and President PFUJ Pervez Shaukat briefly informed media persons about the commission proceedings.

They said the response of the deceased’s relatives, friends and public at large was very disappointing to share information, with the commission. The commission therefore decided to call upon senior journalists to utilise the information, they had about the murder of Shahzad. They said the commission finalised 16 names of the journalists and others including Talat Hussain, Hamid Mir, A.R Shamsi, Zahid Hussain, Imtiaz Alam, Umar Cheema, Najam Sethi, Matiullah Jan, Ms Naseem Zahra, Zafar Sheikh and Ali Dayan of Human Rights Watch.
