Police stop minor girl’s marriage
SUKKUR: Police stopped a seven-year-old girl’s marriage with a teenaged boy in Zahid Abad village in the limits of Sangrar police station early on Friday.
SP Investigation Aitizaz Goraya said that acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in the village and arrested Angan Shambhani, father of the girl Sabul, Lal Khan Shambhani, father of boy Hakim Ali, 15, Moulvi Abdul Wahid Ibupoto and Shah Murad Shambhani.
Mr Goraya said that an FIR had been registered against the accused under child marriage act 1929 at Sangrar police station. Would-be bride and bridegroom were in custody and they along with their fathers and relatives would be produced in court on Monday, he said.
