90-year-old man acquitted in rape case

RAWALPINDI: An additional district and sessions judge here on Friday acquitted a 90-year-old man in a rape case after the medical report revealed that the woman was not assaulted.

Mohammad Akbar was charged with sexually assaulting a mentally disturbed woman in a village of Kalar Syedan on June 26, 2009. However, the Judge, Malik Sajid Ali Awan acquitted him as the charge could not be proved.

Syed Manzoor Shah complained to the police that his cousin was raped by Akbar claiming some people of the area were also witness to the incident. Police arrested the old man and put him behind bars. However, the Lahore High Court granted him bail after a month.
