PCP condemns attack on TV anchor
ISLAMABAD: Press Council of Pakistan (PCP) flayed the attack on the life of a local electronic-media journalist Raza Rumi on Saturday.
PCP Chairman Raja Shafqat Abbasi said under Article 19(A) of the Constitution of Pakistan all provincial governments were bound to shield right of freedom of expression by taking appropriate steps to ensure security of working journalists. Such heinous acts are tantamount to hinder free functioning of the press and put them under great pressure. He said working journalists should not be a casualty in any given law and order situation since Pakistan is being referred to as most deadly place for journalists.
The Council regretted continued attacks on media persons and asked the concerned quarters to guarantee their security by taking effective measures.
