Pakistan Software Export Board completes signing of 50 contracts under Industrial Automation Project

ISLAMABAD- Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has completed signing of 50 software development contracts for SME units under its Industrial Automation Project (IAP).

The project was initiated with the objective to establish linkage between software houses and SMEs to adopt locally developed software solutions in the automation of their business processes, PSEB sources said on Thursday.

They said that the other aim of the project was to give the software industry a new vision to look at business opportunities provided by the local market, especially SMEs.

This will also enable them to mature their products into a marketable brand name in the international market, the sources added.

Seven projects have been completed and implemented at industrial units all over the country, while rest of the projects are under development and likely to be implemented in next few months.

The project got a massive response from SMEs and more than 250 applications poured in from all across the country for automation of their various business processes.

The project has established linkage between local software houses with SME sector.

The SMEs from engineering, textile and pharmaceutical sectors participated and software solutions demand remained mainly for Management Information System, Enterprise Resource Planning, Workflow Management System, e-commerce and finance requirements.

The sources also said that the PSEB became the first government department to launch online bidding system through this highly successful project.

All bidding of projects was done online and intended projects by SMEs were put on the board’s web-site so that member software companies could bid, they added.
