NGO to help resolve local disputes

NAWABSHAH – The “Gender Justice through Masalihat Anjuman” will play an important role in resolving disputes at grass roots level, said Mohammad Saleem Khan, Federal Secretary Local Government and Rural Development during its launch at tire District Council Hall, on Monday.

He said issues like domestic violence, matrimonial dispute, property disputes, child abuse, sexual harassment, bonded labour, watta-satta, marriage with Quran, forcible marriage, and public insult will be resolved at the Union Council level through mediation, reconciliation, and arbitration.

This will enable the public to avail cheap justice at their doorstep, he said adding: “This will not save their time but will bring to an end the hassle of running after police and approaching the court.”

He said the Masalihat Anjuman will be constituted at the UC level with three members with one as convener.

He said if parties do not agree to resolve their matter through it, or the matter was fit for an FIR, or filing before court, the Musalihat Anjuman will without a compromise and impartiality help and assist the aggrieved party for filing case before a court or competent authority.

The District Nazim Nawabshah Ms. Faryal Talpur said the project was the need of time and will help in resolving disputes without going to courts or police stations.

She said she would make all efforts for implementation of rules and regulations of the Masalihat Anjuman and assist them.
