Killing of madressah students condemned

KARACHI – Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) condemned the killing of two under age children, cousins, at the hands of a madressah administration in Noshehro Feroz district, dubbing it a brutal act.

1According to a fact-finding mission formed by the SPARC to investigate the event, 10year-old Amir and 13-year-old Dilsher Panwliar were killed by the madressah administration as punishment to switch to another seminary.

The madressah administration had warned the parents and children not to change the madressah but they did not agree.

The madressah administration considering the change of the institution as an offence killed the children.

Both the children were invited in a Holy Quran recitation ceremony from where they were taken to a nearby farm, allegedly sexually abused and then killed.
Parents of the ceased children have lodged an FIR in Tharushah against the administration of the rnadressah including Molvi Chulam Rasool Panhwar, Hafiz Muzammall Faiz Mohammad, Ashiq Ali and Aftab Ali.

Though some of the nominated culprits have been arrested Molvi Ghulani Rasool Panhwar, the main culprit, is still at large.

The event has spread a wave of terror and panic in the area and people seem reluctant to send their children to madressahs, observed the fact-finding mission.

The SPARC expressing its grave concern over the terrifying event, said in a press release issued by the Karachi office that the killing of the innocent children showed the level of intolerance in society.
Akhtar Hussain Balouch, regional manager SPARC Sindh, urged the government to bring all the religious seminaries under some federal regulation and their activities monitored regularly.
