Journalists stabbed by timber mafia
MINGORA- An armed group of timber mafia on Thursday stabbed and seriously wounded a journalist for writing about cutting of trees in Dir.
Ahmed Ali Shah, a correspondent of Peshawar-based Urdu daily Mashriq, in Khall, Dir had been receiving threats from timber mafiamen who wanted a news blackout of their activities in Dir district and Warsi sub-division.
But Mr. Shah continued his crusade against the massive deforestation being carried out by the mafiamen in the area.
On Thursday morning, the armed men, who had come in a pick-up No DR5389, attacked Amjad with knives and beat him severely.
