KARACHI: The Sindh Information Technology Department is trying to upgrade all the obsolete system in various departments of the provincial government, said the caretaker IT minister on Wednesday.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that for this purpose, he would sign memorandums of understanding with representatives of multinational IT companies.

Hussain was addressing a dinner reception held in honour of caretaker ministers at the Karachi Club. It was hosted by the patron-in-chief of the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Capt Moiz Khan.

The minister said he would meet with the Intel Corporation’s country chief to negotiate the upgrading of the Sindh government’s IT system and for acquiring the latest technology.

He said his department has tried its best to expedite the ongoing projects, including Arfa Karim IT City whose first phase is near completion, adding that if not during his tenure, then the incoming IT minister would complete the projects. He hoped the elections would bring some change in the country.
