ICRC award for journalists
ISLAMABAD: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has announced Award for Journalists 2007 on “Protection of Civilians in Conflicts”, said a press release on Monday. The award is open to all in the English and Urdu print media and the final date for submitting the entries is 30 April 2007.
The winners of the award will be announced on 21 May 2007. The winner of the English category will receive a prize of Rs 30,000, while the winner in the Urdu category will receive Rs 25,000.
The award was initiated last year to further promote humanitarian writing among journalists. The 2006 winners of the ICRC award for journalists were Rina Saeed Khan of The Friday Times and Naveed Karam Abbasi of Urdu daily Nawa-i-Waqt.
The articles should be sent to ICRC, House 12, Street 83, G-6/4, Islamabad, it said.-PR
