Government spending Rs 3.5 b for promotion of Information Technology

KARACHI- The government is spending Rs 3.5 billion during the current fiscal year towards the promotion of information technology.

This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Finance, Planning and Development, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, while speaking at a meeting organized under the auspices of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA).

He assured that every possible step would be initiated by the government to encourage the local software companies.

The Minister said that with the export of software the country’s economy could be taken forward in the right direction.

He was of the view that the financial institutions should take appropriate steps towards strengthening the information technology sector.

Dr Shaikh pointed out that more funding would be required for strengthening the basis infrastructure as well as the marketing of the software.

He also asked the PASHA to also focus towards the local market.

The Minister assured PASHA every assistance from the Sindh Information Technology Board.
