Cable TV operators assured of protection

QUETTA- Balochistan Minister for Information Hafiz Hussain Sharody has said that cable operators should run their business keeping in view social values of the province.

Talking to newsmen here on April 24, 2003 he said though a vast majority of the people was demanding a ban on the cable TV networks, the government would not disturb the business as permission had been granted under the law.

The minister, who is affiliated to the MMA, said that cable operators should remember that social values of the province and the law of the land did not permit obscenity, and violation of these sensitivities would invite stern action against the law-breakers.

Mr. Hussain held out an assurance that the government would take strict action against those people who had beaten the cable operators and said that it was the responsibility of the government to protect the cable operators who had obtained proper licences.

The cable operators’ association has ended the strike after Quetta police officials assured them that the men involved in the manhandling of the operators would be arrested soon.
