Journalists pledge to continue struggle thru pen

MUZAFFARABAD- Kashmiri journalists have pledged to continue efforts through their pens for the supreme cause of Kashmir following the veteran Kashmiri journalists who rendered great services in this regard.

Rich tributes were paid to Mir Noorud Din Shah Akhtar for his meritorious services he rendered, for the promotion of journalism and ideology accession to Pakistan throughout his life.

A condolence reference was held here on April 26, 2003 in connection with the third death anniversary of the departed veteran renowned journalist and broadcaster at the Central Press Club, Muzaffarabad.

Veteran Kashmiri journalist Khawaja Abdul Rashid chaired the meeting white other veteran journalists Abdul Hafeez Salib, GM Mufti, AQ Ishrat, Haji Younas Awan, and young Kashmiri journalists President Press Club Syed Afaq Hussain Shah, Syed Arif Bahar, Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah and Raja Iftikhar also spoke on the occasion.

The speakers were of the view that the late Mir Nooruddin Akhtar was a multidimensional personality, saying, he was not only a journalist, intellectual, writer but also a freedom fighter, Kahksar leader and politician also.

Mir, they said, rendered his services as close associate of Allama Mashraqi and Raeesul Ahrar Quaid-e-Kashmir Ch. Ghulam Abbas for the noble cause of Islam, Pakistan and Kashmir. The speakers highlighted the different aspects or the life of Mir Nooruddin Akhtar and stressed the need to follow the foot steps of these personalities to achieve the goal of freedom from Indian subjugation.

They strongly condemned the large-scale atrocities and brutalities of the Indian forces on Kashmiris and termed it a gross violation of human rights and freedom of expression.

The speakers praised the efforts and services of late Mir Nooruddin he had been rendering for the promotion of good journalism in AJK and projecting the noble cause of Kashmir as mediamen broadcaster, writer and politician in its true perspectives.

The speakers were of the view that late always remained adherent to ideology of Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan and had been projecting this ideology through his paper.

They also paid homage to the forefathers of Mir for their vital role in the formation of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Occupied Kashmir and for the freedom movement against the Dogra regime and, thereafter, Indian repression.

The speaker said, the Kashmiri journalist always made their efforts in highlighting the Kashmir freedom movement in real perspectives and pledged to continue efforts till the liberation of Occupied Kashmir from Indian subjugation.

The speakers also paid glowing tributes to those brave martyred Kashmiri journalists who laid down their invaluable lives in Occupied Kashmir and did not bow to the Indian hegemony.

Special prayers and fateha was also offered for the deported soul and Quraan Khawani and special prayers were also offered on the third death anniversary of Mir Nooruddin Akhtar.
