The speakers included a former federal minister, Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, Ali Iqbal, a former president of KPC, Karachi University (KU) teacher Prof Inam Bari, senior journalist Qaiser Mahmood and the secretary of KPC, AH Khanzada.

The speakers lauded the efforts of Dr Khan for coming up with a publication on an important subject like development communication. It was further pointed out that this is the first book on development communication written in English in the Pakistani context.

Khaliq lamented that reading habits in our society are on a decline. He said that good books on relevant subjects would contribute towards fostering reading habits.

Tayyab praised the choice of the topic and the look of the book as it has been made attractive for readers. Iqbal said that the book discusses as to how the media can be utilised towards the development process in our society.

Prof Bari of the KU department of mass communication said that there are many books on the topic that have been contributed by American or British writers but Dr Khan’s book is the first that has been written in the Pakistani context.
