University of Peshawar holds cultural show

Peshawar: In order to promote academic and cultural linkages between Pakistan and South Korean universities, the Dramatic Society, University of Peshawar in collaboration with Korean Cultural Volunteer team organised a cultural show on Thursday.

Students from both the countries presented national and regional songs, dramas, traditional music and highlighted problems confronting both Pakistanis and South Koreans.

The Korean guitarists and Pakistani traditional “Rababer” enthralled the audience.

Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar, Professor Dr Azmat Hayat Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.

Dean Faculty of Islamic Studies, and Oriental Languages, Professor Dr Qibla Ayaz, Registrar Dr Fazal Hadi, Incharge UoP dramatic society, Dr Ahmad Ali and a large number of students, faculty members and musician of both the countries were present.

Dr Hayat said that the cultural event would help bring both the countries closer to each other.

He maintained that the event had provided opportunities to students’ of both the countries to know about each other’s traditions and culture.

He said that the culture, customs and traditions were great reflection and present true picture of the culture and mindset of the people.

He declared western media responsible for damaging the image of Pakistan in the world.

The Korean team representatives said that they had negative image about this region before coming there, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Peshawar city due to terrorism and poor law and order situation.

The visiting Korean team had expressed complete satisfaction over the present security situation of region, and extended special gratitude to administration of the university for arranging such innovative cultural event.

They stressed the need for enhancing academic and cultural ties between South Korea and Pakistan.

South Korea wanted to strengthen relations with Pakistan, they added.
