Ulema call for removal of cable TV network

MANSEHRA- The local social and religious circles have expressed their resentment at the display of objectionable English movies by the cable TV network operator. The ulema in their sermons on Friday voiced their concern over launching of cable TV network in Mansehra and termed it a conspiracy to morally bankrupt the youth of the area.

They alleged that the local district government has colluded with the owner of the cable TV network operator, a retired army officer to show the x-rated movies. They vowed that the district government of Mansehra would not be allowed to promote pornography among the youth.

Maulana Qazi Rafique-ur-Rehman Qamar of the Jamiat Ulemae Islam-Sami-ul-Haq Group (JUI-S) has m warned District. Nazim (Administrator) Mohammad Azam Khan Swati and Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Mansehra to stop backing the owner of the’ cable TV network operator, otherwise ulema would take a hard line of action.

He said a special meeting of the ulema of the entire district held soon in which the local administration would be given a dead line for removing the cable TV network from Mansehra. He further warned that in case of non-acceptance of their demand, direct action would be taken and a protest campaign would be launched throughout the district to get rid of this menace.
