UAE group to set up IT varsity at Karachi

ISLAMABAD- Federal Minister for Science and Technology Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman said, the government was providing an enabling environment and sufficient incentives for the promotion of IT sector.

He stated this in a meeting with a delegation of AI-Ammar Group who expressed the desire to set-up an IT University at Karachi.

Atta-ur-Rahman said owing to government policies many international companies have shown interest to invest in Pakistan. The minister, however, added that government believes in fairness and transparency. All contracts will be awarded through open bidding and a transparent process of selection.

Faisal-al-Faray, the leader of the delegation, informed the minister that UAE based AI Ammar Group is providing umbrella to 25 companies working in diversified sectors throughout Middle East.

The IT University planned by the group is to be set-up at Karachi. It will specialize in E-Commerce sector of IT. In addition to setting up of IT University AI-Ammar is also planning to start some projects for provision of placement services.

The Group showed interest in E-market place development, E-Government development, WEB and WAP security solutions, Internet portals etc.
