Two television journalists missing since March in Pakistan.
KARACHI, June 21 2006: Mukesh Rupeta, Correspondent of Pakistan’s leading television channel Geo News, and cameraman Sunjey Kumar remains missing since March 6, 2006 in the city of Jacobabad in Sindh province. According to a spokesman of Geo News, the only information they have from the authorities is that Mukesh Rupeta has been detained and is being interrogating for filming the Jacobabad Air Force Base. The officials said Mr. Rupeta would be handed over to the police on conclusion of the investigation. So far no charge has been filed against Mr. Rupeta or Mr.
Kumar.
According to the spokesman of Geo News, the organisations had been unable to contact Mr. Rupeta which is a cause of anxiety for his colleagues and family. Journalists of Jacobabad staged protests at local press club and urged government to recover their colleagues immediately.
