Tribunal seeks TV footage for clues

KARACHI, June 10 2006: The Nishtar Park Inquiry Tribunal headed by Justice Rahmat Hussain Jaffery of the High Court of Sindh (SHC), on June 09 sought cooperation from media particularly electronic in respect of any video footage of the bomb blast which claimed 52 lives.

The tribunal screened a number of video footings of different programmes and processions besides of the main public meeting on the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. The main video footage taken by ASI Iftekhar of PS Brigade, unfortunately missed the blast scene and only the sound was recorded as the maker fell down and the camera filmed the sky and heads of people scampering to safety.

Justice Jaffery inquired whether video footages were obtained from television channels covering the event by the investigators. The Registrar of the tribunal was asked to contact the channels and obtain video footings. The tribunal adjourned the proceedings till June 10 (today). Maulana Asghar Dars is likely to appear and record his statement.
