Tribesmen asked to hand over kidnappers

BARA: The political administration of Khyber agency has warned Shalobar tribe to hand over the accused involved in kidnapping of Sohail Qalandar otherwise more tribesmen would be taken into custody under the collective responsibility section of the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR).

Talking to a tribal delegation led by former federal minister Malik Waris Khan, Assistant Political Agent Bara Subdivision Ataur Rahman Aurakzai said that a list of outlaws involved in heinous crimes had been handed over to the elders of the tribe, urging them to make sure surrender of the people wanted to the political administration.

The members of the delegation said the entire tribe was not involved in the kidnapping of the journalist and the political authorities have arrested the close relatives of the nominated culprits. They urged the political authorities to release the innocent people of the tribe arrested under FCR so that joint efforts could be made for purging the agency of outlaw.

The assistant political agent said that unless and until the tribesmen start hunt against criminals, their men would not be released. He urged the tribal elders to take care of the detention of their co-tribesmen under collective responsibility and create unity among their ranks to discourage kidnapping and other crimes.
