Torch-bearers’ rally by journalists
KARACHI: The Karachi Union of Journalists organised a torch-bearers’ rally on Monday night to mark the World Press Freedom Day.
Addressing the rally, senior journalists called upon the government to provide adequate security to media personnel who faced threats from terrorists.
They demanded that culprits involved in the murder of journalists be brought to book and media personnel be given insurance cover. The procession, taken out after a meeting held outside the Karachi Press Club, concluded at the Pakistan Arts Council.
The journalists also demanded end to contract system and implementation of the 7th wage award.
