Tehzib Murad’s artwork put on display at Alhamra

LAHORE: An exhibition of miniature paintings by Tehzib Murad’s began at the Alhamra Arts Gallery on Monday.

“I have always been intrigued by the idea that arts has no boundaries and it’s not about being wrong or right. Creating art is an experimental process in which one falters, fails and succeeds. The sense of fulfilment is temporary, as work is continuously re-evaluated. Living in Montreal, my work has evolved as I attended an art school there. I have always believed that the period between my work depicts the constant search for new ideas, techniques and experiments,” she said while talking to the media.

Tehzib said that her work is inspired by the Persian poetry of Maulana Rumi. She said that it was a challenge for her to go beyond the superficial aspects and to try and interpret the inferred message. “The nature of my wok is tied to my past heritage,” she said. “I intend to combine Rumi’s poetry with Persian style of miniature.”

Nadia Ashraf, a visitor, said that the artist’s work was interesting, as his sense of creativity and composition were unique. “The colours used in the miniature paintings are eye-catching. Tehzib’s work shows that she has the ability to play with colours.”

The exhibition will continue until March 30.
