Socialist Qamar Yorash dies

LAHORE, July 18: Prominent progressive writer Qamar Yorash died here on Wednesday afternoon. He was 75 and single. Yorash breathed his last during asleep in a room of the Labour Party Pakistan office on Abbot Road, where he had been living for the past several years.

He was suffering from kidney enlargement and diabetes. He was laid to rest at Miani Sahib Graveyard after sunset.

Qamar Yorash was among the close friends of celebrities like Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Habib Jalib, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi and Ustad Daman. He was a staunch believer in socialism and devoted his entire life to the propagation of revolutionary ideas among workers. He spent a lot of time in jails and Lahore Fort.

His prominent publications include Yadon kay Ujalay, Rizaq Ki Talash, Pehli Nazar, Yaran-i-Maikada, Bazar-i-Husn, Janay Pechanay Log, Shahi Qila se Jail Tak, Phir Subah Ho Gi, Arzouon Kay Mahal, Khana Badosh, Yeh Prem Gali Hai, Sheha, Wada Insan, Qamar Yorash Kay Afsanay, Qamar Yorash Ki Kahanian, Baqa-idawam, Mera Bachpan, Dastan-i-Qafas, Pareet Nagar Main Pehla Pakistani, Saree Duniya Meri Katab and Sara Zamana Mera Ustad.
