Shujaat urges govt to mediate between doctors, journalists
LAHORE: PML-Q President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has demanded of the Punjab government to mediate between doctors and journalists instead of playing the role of a silent spectator.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the PML-Q president criticised the Punjab government for its indifference, saying the provincial government would be held responsible if any patient lost his or her life due to the doctors’ strike.
Shujaat said an effort should be made for reconciliation between journalists and doctors before it was too late. He said it was a matter of grave concern that patients were suffering hardships in hospitals but the Punjab government was doing nothing.
Shujaat said claims of providing free healthcare to the poor people of the province by the Punjab government were false as patients were suffering in hospitals and there was no one to look after them.
