SHO directed to record KU teacher’s statement
Additional District and Sessions Judge, Abdur Rahman Bhatti, has directed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mobina Town police station to record the statement of Prof Dr Riaz Ahmed of the University of Karachi (KU) under Cr PC 154.
Dr Riaz, Professor of Applied Chemistry, KU, submitted an application in the court stating that the police of the Mobina Town police station had refused to register an FIR against Rangers’ personnel, who beat him up on the premises of the campus some days back. The Rangers’ personnel including Ehtesham and Anwar-ul-Haq along with other security guards reportedly misbehaved and beat him up when he had refused to use the Staff Gate instead of Silver Jubilee Gate, which was closed due to security reasons following a clash between two groups on March 31.
