Shahbaz for reforms through information technology

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stressed the need for use of information technology for providing better services to the people. He said that the goal of national development and prosperity cannot be achieved without information technology; therefore, Punjab government is taking comprehensive measures for providing maximum services to the masses through utilising information technology.

He was talking to Vice President of ORACLE, Shaun Han, who met him at Model Town, Thursday. The meeting decided to enhance cooperation between Punjab government and ORACLE in education, healthcare and tax revenue sectors.

The chief minister said that better services can be provided to the masses by bringing reforms in different sectors of life through the use of information technology. He said that revenue, health and education sectors can be improved with the help of information technology; therefore, Punjab government is introducing reforms in various sectors through modern technology.

He said that recovery of revenue is of vital importance for economy and this system can be improved through modern technology. He said that Punjab government will promote cooperation with ORACLE in different sectors so that the standard and speed of provision of services to the masses could be enhanced.

Shahbaz Sharif said that departments concerned and ORACLE officials should try to find new opportunities of cooperation. Vice President ORACLE Shaun Han said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the promotion of information technology for good governance and improving the performance of institutions. He said that ORACLE is willing to cooperate with Punjab in revenue collection, education and healthcare sectors.
