Seventh Wage Board meets in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD- The 14th, meeting of the seventh wage board for newspapers employees was held in Islamabad. The board Chairman Justice Raja Afrasiab Khan presided over the meeting, and the representatives of the newspaper workers in the board attended the meeting including All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (APNEC), Chairman Abdul Hameed Chhapra, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), President I.H Rashid, APNEC Secretary General Pervez Shaukat, President Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ), Abdul Majid Fouz, Senior Assistant-Secretary General PFUJ Abdullah Jan and wage board Consultant Ministry of Labour, Dr. Irfan.
Ten newspapers workers appeared before the board as witness and recorded their statements. They included Shamim Rizvi, Anwar Fitrat, Ghulam Abbas Butt, Ishaq Chaudhry, Ghulam Mustafa Butt, Fauzia Shahid, Mohammad Younas, Ahmad Hussan, Khalid Mehmood and Najmual Islam Usmani.
The meeting directed the board’s sub-committee included PFUJ, President I.H Rashid and APNEC Secretary-General Pervez Shaukat from the employees side and All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), President Hameed Haroon, who is also to nominate another member from the employers side on the committee.
The board will meet again in Islamabad on Friday to record the statements of more witnesses.
