Seminar on freedom of press held
Karachi–A seminar on freedom of press was organized here under the auspices of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) at its Abdul Haq Campus.
An official of the institution said on Monday that senior journalists and faculty members expressed their views on the occasion.
The speakers pointed out that the freedom of press is part of democracy.
It was further pointed out that through the freedom of expression the human beings attained scientific and industrial progress as well as development.
The speakers included Editor of Awam, Nazeer Leghari, president of the Karachi Union of Journalists, Siraj Ahmed. Dean of FUUAST’s Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Seemi Naghmana, Prof. Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan, and Prof. Samina Qureshi of Karachi University’s Department of Mass Communication.
It was further pointed out that freedom of press leads to the process of development and also ensures the basic rights of the people.
