Secret agencies probe Pakistan Television (PTV) wrong telecasts

HYDERABAD- The Pakistan Television (PTV) telecast investigations took a new turn, as the secret agencies have started probe, for ascertaining either it was technical fault or an attempt to “jam” the transmission of the Pakistan Television. The officials of the secret agencies, hailed from Karachi inquired about the factuality into the matter, the wrong telecasts had alerted the government, to look into the matter more seriously.

The involvement of any individual or any deliberate attempt cannot be ruled out, as the telecast of the anti-government demonstration, amid the crucial juncture, is problematic for the government.

A senior PTV official in Karachi said that secret agency men probed the matter and questioned the staff with several question, regarding the matter, with a hint either it was simply the matter of technical fault or it has something in its folds.

The technical staff, placed under suspension by MD PTV was issued show cause notices by the General Manager (GM) PTV, for explaining the reasons, in the telecasts of the anti-government film.

It may be mentioned here that the entire technical staff of the Pakistan Television Regional Transmission Relay Centre, Tando Allahyar was suspended for telecasting a Reuters Television film showing torching of the effigies of US President George W Bush and President General Pervez Musharraf by the participants of anti-US and anti- government protest demonstration.

A high level PTV officials team was also shortly expected to visit Tando Allahyar for a full fledge inquiry into the matter.
