Salt Arts presents Southasia ensemble, live in Karachi tonight

Pakistan Press Foundation

Well designed with a clear aesthetic and fifty shows later, Salt Arts, an arts and production company from Karachi, has a plan to not stop and by doing so they continue to give the city by the sea a great deal to look forward to.

Hope in times of great upheaval. Audience development is one of the areas they are working on as they continue to celebrate our larger South Asian identity. And as one press release noted, “Salt Arts creates new musical ensembles, building opportunities for artists and audiences to engage in audio visual experiences.”

Something similar is happening tonight as The Southasia ensemble, presented by Salt Arts, is all set to take the stage tonight at the Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi (poolside). It will be a night to disengage from the bleak reality that surrounds us and engage your senses.

Noted the press statement: “Co-curated in 2016 by Ahsan Bari Music and Salt Arts, the Southasia ensemble draws from the monsoon clouds and our connections to the soundscapes of this region, and its relation to the world.

This ever-evolving lineup creates episodes of an energy driven sonic space and experiments within its realms. This super-group of artists and curators presents itself to the Karachi public — join us.”

As for whom the players are, they include Ahsan Bari, Abdul Aziz Kazi, Saif Abbas Rizwan, Rahat Ali and Shahid Rahman. The show will also feature special guest artists such as Omran Shafique, Natasha Baig, Saif Samejo and Arieb Azhar.

Salt Arts, a company that believes in the power of collaborations, has joined forces with Khaula Jamil and Chapter 2 who will be incorporating their audiovisual narratives with this campaign. Talk about the power of interdisciplinary arts.

Check out this rather special gig tonight at Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi with passes for Rs. 1500/- each.
