Required funds released

KARACHI- The government of Sindh has started payment of required funds for the development work of the journalists housing society at Hawkesbay.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Secretary K B Rind, while talking to a group of journalists in his office here on March 30, 2003.

“Now determination of a date by president of the journalists society is awaited for the inaugural ceremony so that work may be initiated in a regular manner,” he said.

Rind was optimistic that the project would be accomplished in one and a half to two years’ time.

The delegation discussed with Rind matters of cooperative societies and housing societies in the backdrop of the residential problems of journalists.

It was stated that the CS had sought a detailed report from District Coordination Officers regarding cooperative housing societies and colonies in their respective jurisdictions.

About water problems, Rind apprised the journalists that the K-III project would be completed by 2005 that would help overcome the water shortage in Karachi. He said the installation of the desalination plant in the metropolis would also contribute towards solving the water problem in the city. Rind informed that a sum of Rs1.3 billion had been earmarked for revamping the irrigation system in the province. While work on feasibility of other aspects was in progress, he said. He also shed light on Khushal Pakistan Programme, Village Electrification Programme, and Annual Development Programme.
