Rapist of four-year-old girl still at large
Saeed-ul-Ameen, rapist of a four-year-old Alia (name changed) is still at large as her poor Bengali family continues to be harassed by his family.
Alia, resident of Korangi, was sexually assaulted earlier this month when her next-door neighbour lured her into his house while his family were away.
Alia was too traumatised to plead for help, said her mother who after examining her bruises and vaginal bleeding discovered what had happened with her little daughter. The incident took place around noon when her husband, Mohammad Yaqoob, who is a fisherman, was out at sea.
“Alia was crying copiously and I just couldn’t see her in pain, so I immediately rushed her to Civil Hospital where the medico-legal deptt confirmed her assault,” said the mother.
Later, on her husband’s return, the matter was reported to the police and an FIR against Ameen was lodged. By the time the police raided his house, he had fled. “We instead took his father into custody and interrogated him but could not implicate him in the crime since there was no evidence against him,” said Investigation Officer, Mohammad Irshad, who is handling the case. The police are searching for Ameen but have not been successful in nabbing him.
Unaware of degree of torture she was subjected to at this age, Alia wakes up in the night screaming and gasping for breath. “Even days after the incident, the burning sensation in her vaginal area does not let my daughter sleep. She shares her pain with everyone she meets.” adds the mother:
“Ameen is a beast and he should be punished for this unpardonable crime,” demanded the father, Yaqoob.
As evidenced by her the injuries Alia sustained and the medico-legal reports, IO Irshad confirmed that the crime was committed. However, based on his prior experience, he suspects that the family may be exaggerating. “Ameen perhaps made the attempt but did not actually penetrate. That would have killed the little girl,” believes Irshad.
However, this is not reason enough to believe that the Alia was not sexually assaulted. A similar case of a four-year-old Fauzia was highlighted in the media last year where the girl was not just assaulted, but also burnt, bruised and beaten by her brother in law – yet she survived
