Rallies condemn journalist’s killing

SUKKUR: Dozens of journalists took out protest rallies in Sukkur, Kandhkot and other cities, on Thursday, following the killing of Islamabad based journalist Malik Mohammad Ismail, on Wednesday. In Sukkur, thejoumalists led by secretary general press club Sukkur Lala Asad Pathan and Mushtaq Gillani staged a protest demonstra­tion in front of the press club, Sukkur, while shouting slogans against the government, which according to them have failed to pro­vide protection to the lives and prop­erties of the people. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

Meanwhile, scores of journalists led by Yasin Lashari, and Liaqat Khoso took the streets from Library Chowk and marching through the main roads of the city reached at Ghantaghar Chowk,’ Kandhkot, where they observed a sit-in for an hour. Ale journalists shouted slogans against the government and demanded a high-level inquiry to investigate the brutal murder of Malik Mohammad ismail.

A lame number of journalists of Mirpurkhas National Press Club and Union of Journalist Thursday held a protest demonstration outside the press club in Mirpurkhas to express their anger over Malik Moharnrnad Ismail’s murder. President Mirpurkhas Union of Journalists Afaq Ahmed led the demonstration. The protesting journalists wore black armbands and chanted slogans. Speaking on the, occasion Afaq Ahmed and others condemned murder of Malik Ismail and criticised the authorities for their failure to protect journalists. They demanded immediate arrest of the killers and asked to stop vio­lence against journalists.
