PTCL withdraws fixed rate facility
KARACHI (PPI)-The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (P’FCL) has withdrawn the monthly fixed flat rate facility for digital telephones in the country, The officials told the agency here on Wednesday.
The decision will he treated as implemented from January 1999, however, the officials said the facility will remain in practice for non-digital telephones.
They said the “competent authorities had earlier withdrawn the monthly rate facility, from January for both digital (Rs 2,000) and non-digital (RS 625) telephones.
Though, the officials did not explain any reason for abolishing such facility. It has been learnt that these telephones have been using as PCOs all over the country.
On the other hand, the telephone subscribers and trade associations have criticised the decision saying if the company had intended to withdraw the facility from January, then consumers should have been informed in December.
