Protests held against killing of newsman
HYDERABAD: Journalists of Hyderabad, Mirpur Mathelo and Dadu held demonstrations on Thursday in protest against the murder of a reporter of a private TV channel at Gambat in Khairpur.
The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has called for immediate arrest of the killers.
Thirty-year-old Ashiq Mangi was going to the press club in Gambat when he was shot dead near the post office on Wednesday.
The PFUJ said that was the duty of the law-enforcement agencies and the government of Sindh to take notice of the murder and arrest the killers.
It also demanded that the federal and provincial governments should pay compensation to the family of Mr Magsi and to ensure protection of working journalists.
In Hyderabad, newsmen carrying banners and placards marched on the Miran Mohammad Shah road after holding a demonstration in front of the press club.
