‘Pemra not to ban any channel’
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Dr Abdul Jabbar said that the Pemra is media facilitator and not going to ban any channel.
Talking to national TV, he said that Pemra only convoying public complaints to channels and many public complaints received against entertainment material. Replying to a question, he said that the Pemra received 2000 complaints in which 800 were against satellite channels.
He said that news should be free from sensationalism adding, “We want to address public complaints.” “Laws always frame to facilitate media but not to put curb on media freedom,” he said. Replying to another question, he said that media should not degrade or use derogatory language against any one.
