Pemra awards FM radio licence to BZU

ISLAMABAD, July 19 2005: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has awarded FM Radio Broadcasting Licence to Bahauddin Zakria University (BZU) Multan.

The Pemra Chairman, Iftikhar Rashid, while awarding the licence said education is the bedrock on which the super-structure of nation-building is firmly anchored.

The Pemra was making strenuous efforts for the availability of choice to people in information, education and entertainment, he said, adding that it is not only media-friendly but also public-friendly and is very eager to see rapid growth of our private electronic media network.

Bahauddin Zakria University Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Muhammad Naseer Khan, Sitara-I-Imtiaz, lauded Pemra for awarding the FM Radio Licence to the University and said that the university would make utmost use of broadcasting tools for the spread of education in the area.

The chairman also awarded another FM Radio Broadcasting license to M/S Sachal Technical Services, (PVT) for Jhang city. With the award of these licences, the number of licences in the realm of FM Radio has been increased to 82.
