Pakistan, China sign Memorandum of Understanding for IT cooperation

ISLAMABAD- Pakistan and China signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of information technology (IT) will particular emphasis on Software development.

Managing Director, Pakistan Software Export Board, Suhail Shahid and Ms. Zhan Yan, a senior executive of China ZGC Software Park signed the document in Beijing. Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman and senior Chinese and Pakistan Embassy officials were also present.

According to reports reaching here, under the MoU both countries would explore business and development opportunities in Software parks/zones of the other country and also endeavour to set up their respective offices in these parks.

Cooperation in the field of software development would be encouraged and both sides would be able to benefit from each other’s experience in the relevant fields.

ZGC Software Park is one of the largest Software and IT concerns in China that has got rich expertise in computer software.

Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman termed the MoU a major step towards greater cooperation between the two countries in the field of IT and computer software.

The signing ceremony was preceded by a detailed presentation on IT development in Pakistan by the minister. Representatives of various Chinese companies and other senior officials evinced keen interest in the presentation and lauded the progress made by Pakistan in IT development during the last two years.

Earlier, the minister attended the inaugural ceremony of an international software exhibition held at the International Exhibition Centre, Beijing, and also visited the software stall established by Pakistani Companies, participating in the exhibition.
