Painting exhibition of historical buildings opens

LAHORE: Painting exhibition depicting the importance of Mughal era’s historical buildings by A.Q. Arif kicked off at The Collectors Galleria here on Thursday.

A large number of people including art lovers, renowned artists and art students thronged the gallery.
As many as 26 painting were showcased in the exhibition wherein Arif has chosen architecture as his point of interest and has shown the complexities as well as its simplicity side by side to compliment each other.

He chose minimum colours and work in their tones, so that the attention of the viewer may not divert from the objective.

His choice of structures to famous building from the Mughal Empire, shrines of famous Sufis or even newer structures that show inspiration from the Mughal era. Arif has used oil paint on canvas in his paintings and painted historical buildings consisting of small boxes.

Talking to Daily Times, Arif explained the purpose of his work on heritage buildings and said he wanted to spread the message to save historical and cultural buildings from demolishing as well as creating awareness among the youth about our heritage through the painting. “My target audience for paintings is a common man and I keep in mind while painting to make my work easily comprehensible for people, Arif added.

The exhibition will continue till December 17.
