Ordeal of ‘raped’ sisters not yet over

GUJRANWALA, June 12: The bail application of two sisters, who were allegedly raped by policemen at a police station during a dacoity case interrogation, was rejected by a local court here on May 12. District bar association president Ilyas Rehan pursued the case on behalf of the sisters while police opposed their bail for want of recovery.

Meanwhile, additional sessions judge Abid Husain Qureshi issued a show-cause notice to the Satellite Town SHO for not submitting a case report. While ASJ Zafar Iqbal Naeem accepted bail applications of 15 accused, including a former union council nazim and a police inspector, who were caught red-handed under the influence at a hotel a few days ago.

The judge directed the accused to furnish surety bonds worth Rs30,000 each. Model Town police had conducted a raided on a VIP hotel and arrested former Ladheywala nazim Naeem Safdar, Motorway police inspector M Asif, three girls of Lahore and others.
