Nilofar Bakhtiar forms NGO to promote tolerance
ISLAMABAD: A non-government organisation (NGO) ‘Bardashat’ was launched on Tuesday to counter increasing extremism in society by Senator Nilofar Bakhtiar.
The NGO will be named and its manifesto will be published in all regional languages to convey the message of tolerance at the grassroots level.
Addressing a press conference, NGO President Bokhtiar said growing intolerance in society had convinced her to establish the organisation.
She said, “Tolerance is a vital ingredient required for the development and prosperity of a country”.
The senator added that youth would be especially encouraged to participate in the campaign carried on by ‘Bardashat’ for the development of society.
The senator also said that politicians would be asked to join the organisation. However, she said the organisation had no political agenda.
Bakhtiar said the spirit of tolerance was required at this time as the nation was facing a massive threat from extremists as far as national security and peace were concerned.
