Newsmen told to highlight people’s sufferings

KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammed Mahar has said that journalism is a sacred profession and journalists should render their professional functions with responsibility, highlighting the social problems and difficulties of the people.

He stated this at a ceremony held for handing over cheques to two ailing journalists and talking to office-bearers of 13 press clubs of Sindh here at the CM House on April 29.

Ali Mohammed Mahar said the present government attaches importance to institutions and gives priority to collective decisions, rather than decisions of individuals. He told the newsmen that his government wants to solve the problems of press clubs in the province and appropriate steps would be taken to solve the problems of journalists.

On this occasion, the chief minister presented cheques to the office-bearers of press clubs of Shikarpur, Hyderabad, Madeji, Tando Allahyar, Tando Bago, Golarchi, Matli, Badin, Thatta and Khanpur Mahar. Two ailing journalists, namely Ameer Bukhari and Hayat Ayaz Jhandir were also presented cheques.

Sindh ministers Irfanullah Marwat, Irfan Gul Magsi, Haji Usman Malkani, Arif Mustafa Jatoi, Advisor to Chief Minister on Information Salahuddin Haider, secretary of information Mahtab Akbar Rashdi and others were also present.
