A senior journalist fell prey to the negligence and inexperience of a lady doctor at Narowal District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Muhammad Shahid was operated on for gallstones at the DHQ Hospital. During the operation, the doctor cut the intestine too along with the gallbladder.

He was rushed to Mayo Hospital in Lahore where he succumbed to his injuries.

“The doctors of Mayo Hospital said which butcher doctor had performed the operation. They said Shahid died due to the alleged negligence and inexperience of the doctor,” brother of the deceased told the media.

“Lady doctor Uzma Shaheen performed the operation even though there was a surgeon in the DHQ Hospital. Our brother’s operation was scheduled to be performed by surgeon Dr Shafiq,” he added.

“Despite the surgeon being there, the operation was performed by an inexperienced lady doctor,” he regretted.

It is to be noted here that Muhammad Shahid had been associated with the field of journalism for a long time, and he was a reporter for a private TV channel.

Citizens and journalist organisations in Narowal have appealed to the Punjab chief minister to take immediate action against the doctor.
