NA employees won't be able to use social media at work

Pakistan Press Foundation

The National Assembly (NA) of Pakistan has decided to prohibit its employees from creating
channels on social media platforms, as well as using these platforms during work hours
Legal experts have strongly advised against allowing assembly employees to create social media
channels, as they emphasize potential negative impacts on their performance of official duties.
The decision comes in response to a request from Naib Qasid Muhammad Butaki to create a
YouTube channel.
The NA secretary sought the opinion of legal experts regarding Naib Kasid Muhammad Botaki's
request.
Experts decided against allowing assembly employees to use social media during work,
especially during long assembly meetings.
The experts underscored that the creation of social media channels by employees may not be
conducive to a productive work environment and could hinder their ability to fulfil official duties
effectively.
According to legal experts, the practice of allowing employees to have social media channels
could lead to distractions and affect the overall efficiency of the assembly's operations.
The recommendation to reject Naib Qasid Muhammad Butaki's request is based on these
concerns, as legal experts believe it is essential to prioritize the smooth functioning of the NA.
