Minor girl killed after sexual assault

KARACHI, June 23 2006: A girl was murdered while police arrested 16 Afghan nationals for illegal border crossing on June 22. A body of a minor girl was found from a drainage course within Pak Colony police jurisdiction. The deceased girl was identified as Maryam, a three-year-old daughter of Shabbir Ahmed and a resident of Jahangirabad locality.

According to the police, Head Constable Akram spotted a youth going towards the drain-course, carrying a bundle wrapped in a blanket. The young man returned shortly with empty hands. The police on suspicion picked the young man and brought to the police station where he was identified as Muhammad Saleem. The youth admitted that he killed the minor girl and then threw the body in the drain-course. The police said that Saleem, a college student murdered the minor girl after assaulting her sexually. The medico-legal experts were of the view that the death was caused due to grievous injuries on the girl’s head followed by sexual assault.
