Media’s positive criticism source of guidance: Hoti

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that success of Awami National Party candidates in the Senate elections in Mardan has proved that ANP was the major political force in the province.

He said success of Muhammad Azam Khan Hoti in Senate election would cast a longlasting impact on the development of Mardan. He said the present government considered positive and constructive criticism of journalists as a source of guidance. He said that eastern and western bypass of Mardan would be opened for traffic in June or July. He was talking to separate delegations of Mardan Press Club and his constituency. Mardan Press Club’s delegation, headed by its president Musarat Aasi and General Secretary Bashir Aadil met with the chief minister.

The other members included Vice President Pervez Khan, Joint Secretary Faqir Hussain and Finance Secretary Shahab Akbar. Members of the delegation congratulated the CM on ANP successes in Senate and Mardan by-elections.

The CM said that the present democratic government believed in freedom of expression and opinion and the journalists of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Mardan journalists have played an important role in attainment of provincial rights, resolving provincial issues, struggling against terrorism and highlighting construction and development work in the province. He said that positive and constructive criticism was essential for improvement and betterment.

He congratulated the newly elected cabinet of Mardan Press Club and hoped that they would use their pen for the welfare of people by highlighting their problems and promoting journalistic norms.

Regarding development of Mardan, the CM said that work on the second phase of District Headquarters Hospital was in progress while its third phase has also been approved, adding that its completion would make available the entire treatment facilities to people of Mardan. He said that completion of eastern and western bypass in June or July would help minimise traffic problems in Mardan city and heavy traffic would reach its destination without entering the city. He said that he would soon lay foundation stone of north part of Ring Road. He said that Mardan was deprived of the fruits of development during the past 63 years. He stressed upon the journalists delegation to apprise the government of people’s problems and particularly keep a sharp eye at quality of work in the development schemes so as to ensure a timely and qualitative completion of the projects.

Talking to a delegation from his constituency, the chief minister lauded continues and untiring efforts of the party workers in by election and stressed for further closer contacts with the people. The delegation met the CM under Shahnawaz and Latif ur Rahman while other members were Noran Gul, Naeem, Gul Karim, Ghafoor, Nasim, Javed, Nihar, Shah Hussain and others.
